Looks for Less: Garter Tank

I was scanning the La Senza website today when I saw something that looked very familiar! Their bridal tank is similar to the Kiki de Montparnasse garter tank, but with ruffle accents and without the black garters. It also retails for about $120 less. The La Senza version is available in pink as well as the white version shown here, and the Kiki de Montparnasse version is also available in black.

Looks For Less: Frederick’s of Hollywood Chameleon Bra

The Frederick’s of Hollywood Chameleon bra is 3 styles in 1. The cups incorporate pads which can be worn black side out, colored side out, or which can be removed for a sheer cup look. While this bra isn’t a dead ringer for any more expensive styles I found, it does look inspired by several in its various states which makes this a great look for less. The bra is available in white, red, teal, blueberry, or purple garnet and all have black lace accents. Each normally retails for $30, or $24.50 when you buy 2 or more. Teal, blueberry, and purple garnet are on currently sale for $19.99 each.

With the pads color side out, it reminds me of the Mimi Holliday Belle Amour bra. It retails for $60 and will be available at the beginning of August (pre-order now at Mio Destino):

With the pads removed or black side out, it reminds me of the Aubade Mathilde bra with the black cups and colored band. It retails for $115:

Looks For Less: More Ruffle Bras

In the most recent Looks for Less article, I showed you some lookalike ruffle bras. But this group deserved its own post because I found not one, but two similar styles for less.

This Kiki de Montparnasse bra has tiered silk ruffles floating down from the top of the cups. It’s flirty and glamorous without being too revealing – and it’s a great option for anyone with a smaller chest hoping to add some “oomph” to her chest. This bra is has removable and adjustable straps, so you can wear it several different ways.

Victoria’s Secret has a similar style bra on sale right now, but with a dramatic difference – the fabric is a cheery orange and white stripe pattern, and an adorable matching skirted thong with sailor buttons is available for $25 as well. This version is also a multiway bra.

If you like the original better, Hot Topic has a black version available with a pink bow attached on the front. The website does not note this as having removable straps.

More Days of the Week Knickers

In the recent “Looks for Less” article, I showed you some look-alike knickers that might allow you to indulge your lingerie cravings at more palatable prices. Seafaerygirl asked in the comments, “Any chance you could find ‘days-of-the-week’ panties for less?”

Well, Seafaerygirl, I did find a few options! It’s not a very common design in adult lingerie, which is why the Stella McCartney set I showed you a while ago was so special. But the good news is that I was able to unearth a few less expensive alternatives. First up, a set of cotton knit boyshorts by Mary Green, with the embroidery on the hip.

The complete set is $90-$92, which isn’t a budget-breaker when you consider that you are getting a set of seven. You can find this set at HipUndies and In the Mood Intimates. Panties.com offers a brighter color scheme for $85 a set.

Figleaves UK and Figleaves US also offer their own version of low-rise satin briefs.

On the US site, the set is normally $74 and is currently on sale for $37. The UK site sells theirs for £49, and there is no sale price at this time.

The final set I found is from Austique, a brand I hadn’t heard of before. At Austique, you can buy the panties individually by day for £10 a piece. The complete set also includes a “Happy Day” pair, in case you don’t finish your laundry on time!

You might remember previous Looks For Less articles where I showed you how to get designer styles inexpensively. So far, we’ve covered chemises and bras. Today, I’ve found some lookalike knickers to share with you! These may be just the ticket for anyone on a budget. Keep in mind that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re thinking of buying a naughty gift for someone, panties are generally easier to buy for another person than bras or corsets. Even if you don’t have the money to spend on expensive lingerie, it doesn’t mean you don’t have the taste for it! I’ve found a range of lookalike pieces that may help satisfy your craving for some of the more costly, but gorgeous, chemises out there right now. I can’t say that the less expensive pieces will all live up to the inspirations, in cut or fabric quality. But if you’re on a budget or still experimenting with what you like and what looks best on you, these could be some nice guilt-free alternatives.
